MANHARD: website for a safety footwear manufacturer

A Belarusian safety footwear manufacturer with injection-moulded soles. We replaced a generic catalog site with one that explains the technology, helps buyers pick footwear for their industry and takes a request for a quote.

The task

MANHARD had a generic catalog site: a header made of contacts and logos, a banner with no offer, three blocks with short lists. The main product advantage, the injection-moulded sole, was not explained, and a company buyer had no quick way to choose footwear for their industry and ask for a quote. The site is in Russian. The goal was a modern site that sells.

What we did

  1. We analysed the competitors’ market and the needs of the target audience in depth.
  2. Went through the old site page by page and kept what a buyer needs: the catalog, contacts, the “Where to buy” section, articles.
  3. Built the new home page around the buyer's questions: how is this footwear different, does it fit my industry, what does a batch cost, can it carry my logo.
  4. Showed the technology in action instead of describing it: a boot that reveals its construction when the cursor moves over it.
  5. Added wholesale blocks: selection by industry, a calculator with an indicative price and lead time, branding from 1,000 pairs, client cases.
  6. Moved reassurance to the first screen: certification, number of clients, own production.

Project highlights

The specific solutions we built, and why.

  1. A boot that shows its construction

    What we built
The first screen carries the line “Hover the boot — we will look inside”: the boot reveals its construction. Below, the “From leather to sole” block shows production in five steps: leather, cutting, sole flow, injection-moulded attachment, the finished pair.
    Why
The main advantage, injection-moulded sole attachment, is hard to explain in text: a buyer reads “advanced method” and sees no difference.
    What it gives
The difference is visible in one mouse move, no separate technology page is needed.
  2. Hotspots on the boot with technical data

    What we built
The “Protection technology” block: hover a dot and a construction detail appears with numbers. Leather 1.8–2.0 mm, composite toe cap 200 J to GOST 28507-99, puncture-proof insole, two-layer PU/TPU sole.
    Why
A buyer and an occupational safety engineer need the specifications, but a table on screen puts people off.
    What it gives
Numbers come one at a time, tied to a place on the footwear, and are easy to verify.
  3. Footwear selection by industry

    What we built
The “Selection for your task” block: nine industries (construction, metallurgy, petrochemicals, food and light industry, woodworking, forestry, agriculture, mining), each with its own conditions and footwear requirements.
    Why
A buyer does not look for a model, they look for footwear for their conditions: cold, oil, metal, moisture. Working conditions first, the model second.
    What it gives
The path from the first screen to the right category is shorter than through a general catalog.
  4. Wholesale calculator

    What we built
The “Wholesale calculator” block: pick a collection and a quantity and get an indicative price and production time at once. If the batch is short of the branding minimum, the calculator says by how many pairs. The exact price comes with the request below.
    Why
A wholesale order starts with “what will this cost for my batch”. Waiting for a manager's call for the first number takes too long.
    What it gives
The buyer gets a guideline without a call, and the request arrives with the collection and volume already known.
  5. Branding from 1,000 pairs as its own block

    What we built
The branding terms are in a separate block: a logo on the tongue, side or lining to an agreed layout, lining and thread colours to a brand palette, a minimum order of 1,000 pairs.
The “Branding from 1,000 pairs” block: the terms and a photo of shelves with footwear
    Why
On the old site branding was one line in a block of three. For factories, chains and public tenders it is a separate buying decision.
    What it gives
The terms and the order threshold are visible at once, and extra questions before the request disappear.
  6. Client cases as “task → solution → result”

    What we built
The home page carries three client cases: flexographic printing, a plant at a constant +21.5 °C, furniture manufacturing. Each names the task and the decision taken; where there is a result, it is stated.
The “Cases” block: three client stories as task, solution, result
    Why
A buyer finds another company's similar situation more convincing than a list of strengths.
    What it gives
A visitor recognises their own situation and sees how it was solved.

A word from the team

We wanted to show not just safety footwear, but how it is made. When the boot itself explains the injection-moulded sole, there is almost nothing left to explain: people see the difference for themselves.

What we would do differently

The project worked out, but we would do a few things differently from the start.

  • We would build speed and accessibility measurements into the first version: the document language, field labels and console errors were fixed only after launch.
  • We would prepare light images for phones in advance: we cut the page weight only on the live site.
  • After the release we reworked the privacy policy consent system to meet current requirements.

About the service

We build websites that explain the product clearly and bring requests: from market analysis and design to launch and analytics.
